The incumbent shall be primarily responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the quality of the curriculum, academic programs and overseeing research and development.
Specific responsibilities include:
Recommend for approval appropriate policies and regulations governing the academic sector;
Allocate and manage academic resources and ensure that adequate financial resources are available;
Lead the process of developing and implementing plans for recruiting and retaining professors with strong academic qualifications and experience;
Devise strategies for recruiting and retaining outstanding students;
Lead the University through curriculum development and review;
Foster a climate of academic excellence and achievement at all levels of the University;
Monitor economic, social and cultural trends in the region in order to ensure the relevance of academic programs to the needs of society and the employment market.
Requirements:
Ph.D. from an internationally recognized university. The rank of Associate Professor is a minimum requirement with five years of post doctorate academic and administrative experience.
Possess a solid record of scholarly achievement and significant experience as an academic administrator in a recognized university, in addition to teaching & research.
Prior knowledge and experience of Quality Assurance and Accreditation processes.
Excellent communication skills to represent the academic community, both inside and outside the University, and in international academic organizations.
Proven leadership and team skills with an ability to motivate and inspire collegiality in the academic community.
Experience in, and sensitivity to working in a multicultural, complex and dynamic environment.
